Medjugorje is the second largest Catholic pilgrimage site in the world. The history of Medjugorje in Herzegovina is well known by most Catholics. In 1981 six teenagers were playing together in the hills between the villages of Medjugorje and Bijakovici. It was on this hill where Mother Mary appeared. When the children told their parents that his first reaction was skeptical. The apparitions, however, did not cease. Mary of Nazareth appeared several times and soon the number of believers increased. Now it is estimated that more than 15 million people have visited this small place.
During our visit you will see the Hill with the White Cross where the parishes raised this cross in 1934 in memory of the 1900th anniversary of the Passion of Jesus, the parish church of Saint James which is the center of Marian devotion, as well as Apparition Hill where the statue of the Queen of Peace is located. In Medjugorje you can find other interesting places like Saint Francis Garden, Mother’s Village and Herzeg Village.
